The Best AI Prompt Optimizers in 2026, Compared
A feature and price comparison of AI prompt optimizers from public information as of October 2026: PromptWizz, Prompt Builder, PromptFluent, AIPRM, and what happened to PromptPerfect.
The Best AI Prompt Optimizers in 2026, Compared
I write prompts for a living, mostly for code and data work. Which prompt optimizer should you pay for? My honest answer is usually "it depends on the job," which is not satisfying. So let's break this down properly.
Two things up front. First, this is not a hands-on benchmark. I did not run the same prompt through every tool and grade the outputs. It's a comparison of what each company publishes about its features and prices, as of October 2026, with links to the sources. Second, I write for PromptWizz, and PromptWizz is one of the tools below. Weigh what I say about it accordingly. I've tried to give each tool credit where its own pages show it does something better.
1. What Counts as a Prompt Optimizer
"Prompt optimizer" gets used for three different kinds of tool:
- Rewriters. You paste a prompt, pick a target model, and get an improved version back. PromptWizz, Prompt Builder, PromptFluent's Rescue feature, and PromptPerfect fit here.
- Template libraries. You start from someone else's prompt and fill in the blanks. AIPRM is the main example here.
- Governance platforms. They manage how a whole organization uses prompts: approvals, versions, audit trails. PromptFluent is built for this, with a rewriter on top.
In practice, the right pick depends on which of those three problems you have.
2. The Tools at a Glance
Monthly list prices as of October 2026. "Not listed" means the company's homepage and pricing pages don't mention it, not that it definitely doesn't exist.
| PromptWizz | Prompt Builder | PromptFluent | AIPRM | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rewrites your prompt | Yes | Yes | Yes (Rescue) | Not listed |
| Scoring | 1–100, before and after | Not listed | 10-dimension rubric | Not listed |
| Prompt library | 180+ prompts, 11 categories | Personal library + Community Prompts | 25,000+ (its figure) | 5,400+ public prompts (its figure) |
| Image models | Midjourney, DALL-E as optimizer targets | Not listed | Not listed | Its library lists Midjourney, DALL-E and others (templates, not rewriting) |
| Browser extension | Not yet | Not listed | Yes | Yes |
| Team features | No | Team workspaces | Roles, approvals, audit log | Teams, shared lists |
| Free tier | 1/day without account; 3/day with one | 25 credits/month | 3 Studio generations/month | Free version; limits not stated |
| Paid from | $5/month | $9/month | $29/month ($25 annually) | $20/month |
The one-line takeaway: three of these four list a rewriter for your own prompt, and they split on price, image support and team features.
3. PromptWizz
Disclosure again: this is our tool.
PromptWizz focuses on prompt optimization. You paste a prompt, pick a target (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Midjourney, DALL-E or Other), and it returns a rewritten prompt, a 1–100 score before and after, and a list of the changes with explanations. You can leave the framework on Auto or choose RISE, RACE, Chain-of-Thought, Tree-of-Thought or Least-to-Most; the last three are on Pro.
Pricing: 1 optimization a day without an account, 3 a day on a free account, Starter at $5/month for 25 a day, and Pro at $12/month for unlimited optimizations. There's also a free library of 180+ prompts.
What it doesn't have: an API, team features, or a browser extension you can install today.
PromptWizz fits individuals who already have a prompt and want it improved, scored and explained, including image prompts, at a low price. Try it in the optimizer, or check a prompt's score first with the prompt checker.
4. Prompt Builder
Prompt Builder's own tagline is about turning "a rough idea into a finished, model-ready prompt." It does two jobs: a generator that builds a prompt from an idea, and an "Improve your prompt" flow that asks up to three clarifying questions and rebuilds what you pasted.
It adds versioning (every refine is tracked and revertable), saved Instructions for voice and constraints, team workspaces, and a long list of target text models, including Llama, Mistral, DeepSeek, Perplexity, Grok and Cohere.
Pricing is credit-based: 25 free credits a month, then Starter at $9, Pro at $19 and Unlimited at $49 a month.
Prompt Builder fits people who often start from a blank page, small teams that want a shared library, and anyone targeting a wide range of text models. Full breakdown: PromptWizz vs Prompt Builder.
5. PromptFluent
PromptFluent describes itself as "The System of Record for Governed AI Execution." Its library has 25,000+ prompts across 13 business functions, by its own count, and it offers approvals, version control, an audit trail, enforcement modes, analytics and multi-step workflows.
It also overlaps directly with optimizers. Its Prompt Studio "Rescue" feature rewrites a pasted prompt, lists each fix, and scores the original and the rewrite on a 10-dimension rubric. A Chrome extension brings the library into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity.
Pricing: Free (1,500+ prompts, 3 Studio generations a month), Pro at $29/month or $25 billed annually, Team at $59 per user per month or $50 billed annually, and custom Enterprise pricing.
PromptFluent fits organizations that need control over how prompts are used. Full breakdown: PromptWizz vs PromptFluent.
6. AIPRM
AIPRM is built around templates rather than rewriting; a rewriter isn't listed on its homepage or pricing pages. It's a browser extension and community prompt library that puts templates directly into ChatGPT and other AI tools. AIPRM says it has 5,400+ public prompts and 2,000,000+ users. It supports teams, and its higher plans add features like Live Crawling of URLs and prompt forking.
Solo plans are listed at $20, $39, $79 and $999 a month, and team plans at $99 to $2,990 a month, with a free version whose limits aren't stated.
AIPRM fits marketers and SEO teams who live in ChatGPT and want ready-made community templates one click away. You can also use it alongside a rewriter: start from a template, then optimize your adapted version. Full breakdown: PromptWizz vs AIPRM.
7. PromptPerfect
PromptPerfect, from Jina AI, optimized prompts for text and image models. Its FAQ lists GPT-4, Claude, Llama, Stable Diffusion and Midjourney. Jina was acquired by Elastic in October 2025, and PromptPerfect's homepage now says it "will no longer be available after September 1, 2026."
Its last listed pricing, from an archived copy of its page in February 2026, was a free plan with 10 requests a day, Pro at $19.99/month and Pro Max at $99.99/month, which included API access.

8. How to Choose, or Do It Yourself
Here's the decision in five lines:
- You have a prompt and want it better, cheaply: PromptWizz.
- You start from ideas and want versions: Prompt Builder.
- Your company needs governance: PromptFluent.
- You want templates inside ChatGPT: AIPRM.
- You need an API: none of these four lists one; look at developer tooling instead.
You also don't strictly need a tool. Any capable chat model can do a basic rewrite if you ask it well. Here's a prompt you can paste into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini:
You are a prompt engineer. Improve the prompt below for [target AI].
Prompt:
[paste your prompt]
Steps:
1. Identify what the prompt is trying to achieve and who the output is for.
2. List what is missing: role, context, constraints, output format, examples.
3. Rewrite the prompt so that every missing element is stated explicitly.
4. Explain each change in one sentence.
Return the rewritten prompt first, then the list of changes.
A dedicated tool earns its keep when you do this often enough that consistency, scoring and history matter. In practice, that's the line between a habit and a workflow.
