PromptPerfect Is Ending Service: What to Use Instead (2026)
PromptPerfect announced it would end service after September 1, 2026. Here is what it offered, what to check before you move, and how the main alternatives compare on features and price.
PromptPerfect Is Ending Service: What to Use Instead (2026)
I spent a decade in management consulting, and one lesson from that work has stuck with me: when a tool a team depends on announces an end date, the subscription is the cheap part to replace. The expensive part is the habits and the saved work.
So this guide is practical. What did PromptPerfect actually announce, what did people use it for, and which tools cover the same jobs?
Disclosure: I write for PromptWizz, which is one of the tools below. Everything here comes from what each company publishes, as of October 2026, and I link the sources. I haven't benchmarked these tools against each other, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.
1. What PromptPerfect Announced
PromptPerfect was built by Jina AI. Jina's own legal page says it was acquired by Elastic in October 2025.
PromptPerfect's homepage now carries a notice saying the product "will no longer be available after September 1, 2026." Wayback Machine captures of the homepage show the notice appeared sometime between early February and mid-March 2026. As of October 2026, it's still there.
You may have seen other dates around the web, for when signups closed or what happens to saved prompts. I couldn't find those in any official PromptPerfect, Jina or Elastic source, so I'm not repeating them. If you had an account, check promptperfect.jina.ai directly.
The bottom line is that September 1, 2026 is the only official date, so plan around that and nothing else.
2. What PromptPerfect Users Relied On
Before you pick a replacement, be clear about which parts of PromptPerfect you used. It did more than one job.
| What it offered | Details from its own pages |
|---|---|
| Text prompt optimization | "Prompt Optimization" and "Auto-tune"; its FAQ lists GPT-4, Claude and Llama |
| Image prompt optimization | An "Image Creation" use case; its FAQ lists Midjourney and Stable Diffusion |
| API and prompts as a service | API Access on Pro Max; "Deploy prompts as API services" |
| Other tools | Chat, Arena and Agents tabs |
| Free plan (last listed) | 10 requests per day |
| Paid plans (last listed) | Pro $19.99/month, Pro Max $99.99/month, Enterprise through sales |
The prices come from an archived copy of PromptPerfect's page from February 2026, before the notice went up.
What I tell my clients is to sort their usage into two buckets: things a person did in the browser, and things a system did through the API. Those buckets lead to very different replacements.
3. Before You Switch: A Short Migration Checklist
Work through this list before you sign up for anything new.
- Collect your best prompts. Whatever you can still reach, copy it somewhere you control: a doc, a notes app, a spreadsheet.
- Note the target model for each. A Midjourney prompt and a Claude prompt need different handling.
- Flag anything that ran through the API. That's a separate migration.
- Write down what "good output" looked like. You'll want to compare.
If a saved prompt is missing context, you can rebuild it with any chat model before you optimize it. Here's a template for that:
I am moving a prompt from one tool to another and want to document it properly.
Here is the prompt:
[paste your prompt]
It was used with: [target AI, e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney]
It was used for: [one sentence on the task]
Please return:
1. The role or perspective the prompt assumes
2. The task, in one sentence
3. Any context or constraints the prompt relies on but does not state
4. The output format it expects
5. A rewritten version that states all of the above explicitly
The real value here is that you stop depending on any one tool's memory of why a prompt worked.
4. The Alternatives Compared
Here are four tools worth weighing against PromptPerfect. Prices are monthly list prices as of October 2026.
| PromptWizz | Prompt Builder | PromptFluent | AIPRM | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rewrites a pasted prompt | Yes | Yes | Yes ("Rescue") | Not listed; template library |
| Image models | Midjourney, DALL-E as optimizer targets | Not listed | Not stated | Its library lists Midjourney, DALL-E and others (templates, not rewriting) |
| Prompt scoring | 1–100, before and after | Not stated | 10-dimension rubric | Not stated |
| API | No | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed |
| Free tier | 1/day without an account; 3/day with one | 25 credits/month | 3 Prompt Studio generations/month | Free version; limits not stated |
| Paid plans from | $5/month | $9/month | $29/month ($25 billed annually) | $20/month |
"Not listed" and "not stated" mean the company's homepage and pricing pages don't mention it. The feature may still exist.
PromptWizz (ours) is the closest match if you used PromptPerfect in the browser to rewrite prompts. You paste a prompt, pick ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Midjourney, DALL-E or Other, and get a rewritten version with a 1–100 score before and after and a list of what changed. Starter is $5/month and Pro is $12/month for unlimited optimizations. It has no API. Full comparison: PromptPerfect alternative.
Prompt Builder also rewrites prompts. Its "Improve your prompt" flow asks up to three clarifying questions first. It adds prompt generation from an idea, versioning, and team workspaces, and lists text models from GPT to Mistral and DeepSeek. Paid plans run $9 to $49 a month. See PromptWizz vs Prompt Builder.
PromptFluent is a governance platform, but its Prompt Studio has a "Rescue" feature that rewrites a pasted prompt and scores it on a 10-dimension rubric. It's built for organizations that need approvals and audit trails. Pro is $29/month, or $25 billed annually. See PromptWizz vs PromptFluent.
AIPRM is a different kind of tool: a browser extension and community prompt library. It says it has 5,400+ public prompts. If what you liked about PromptPerfect was getting a better starting point, AIPRM's templates may suit you, but a tool that rewrites your own prompt isn't listed. See PromptWizz vs AIPRM.
The short version: three of these four list a rewriter for your own prompt, and they differ most on image support, team features and price.
5. Which Alternative Fits Your Situation
Match the replacement to how you actually used PromptPerfect.
- You rewrote ChatGPT or Claude prompts in the browser. PromptWizz or Prompt Builder. PromptWizz shows a score and explains each change; Prompt Builder adds versioning and generation from scratch.
- You optimized Midjourney or image prompts. PromptWizz lists Midjourney and DALL-E as targets. For Stable Diffusion, use its Other target.
- You ran prompts through PromptPerfect's API. None of the four tools here lists an API on its homepage or pricing pages. Budget time to find a different kind of tool.
- Your team shares prompts and needs controls. PromptFluent for governance, Prompt Builder for shared workspaces, AIPRM for team template lists.
- You mainly wanted good starting templates. AIPRM's community library.
What I tell my clients is simple: replace the job, not the logo.
6. How to Rebuild Your Workflow in PromptWizz
If PromptWizz fits, the switch takes a few minutes per prompt.
- Open the optimizer and paste a prompt from your checklist.
- Pick the target AI you'll use it with.
- Leave the framework on Auto, or pick RISE, RACE, Chain-of-Thought, Tree-of-Thought or Least-to-Most if you know what you want. Chain-of-Thought, Tree-of-Thought and Least-to-Most are on the Pro plan.
- Read the score and the list of changes, then copy the result.
You can run one optimization a day without an account, or three a day with a free one. If you only want to see how a prompt scores before deciding anything, try the prompt checker.
Here's a typical "before" prompt to try it with:
Write a product description for our new running shoe. Make it good and not too long.
The point is that you can test the replacement on your real prompts before you commit to anything.
